Snapshots of New Orleans

Our first stop was the Cafe Du Monde for beignets.

We walked through Jackson Square,

went inside the Saint Louis Cathedral,

and listened to an impromptu jazz band.

We took pictures of my dad's old apartment in the upper Pontalba building, on the edge of Jackson Square.

I ate crawfish (and Brent tried one).

We walked to LaLaurie Mansion, Johnny Depp's French Quarter home, which is rumored to be the most haunted site in New Orleans.

We rode in a horse carriage around the Quarter.

We browsed through NCAA Final Four t-shirts,

watched them set up Kiss's stage for the Big Dance concert,

and spotted Kentucky players (including Anthony Davis) walking down Bourbon Street with security in place.

We went back for more beignets (every day).

We rode the St. Charles streetcar...

... took photos of the religious/ partying culture conundrum that is New Orleans...

... toured the gorgeous Lafayette Cemetery in the Garden District...

... and walked through Audobon Park.

On our last night, we rode the (free!) Algiers Point/ Canal St. ferry across the Mississippi,

and ate one last trifecta of Cajun cuisine: red beans & rice, crawfish etouffee, and gumbo at Desire Oyster Bar.

  1. Looks like a fabulous trip! All the food shots have my mouth watering. I've never been to New Orleans, but I hope to get there someday!
